Quotes from White Collar Episode "Power Play"

Season 2, Episode 15 Air Date: March 1, 2011

Burke: I know, Satchmo. You warned me not to use the central air before the blackout hit. But I didn't listen. 'cause you're a dog. So until we get it fixed, meet our new AC.

Burke: Okay. So, where can I talk to Brooke?
Elizabeth: Well, maybe come down to the museum while Stanzler's out.
Burke: That's good.
Elizabeth: You could bring Neal.
Burke: Why Neal?
Elizabeth: Well, honey, she's really nervous. And, you know, Neal has a calming smile.
Burke: Fine. I'll bring Neal and his calming smile.
Elizabeth: Thank you. You're a good boy. And so are you.

Sara: Neal. Hi.
Caffrey: Sara. When did you get back in town?
Sara: Just a few days ago.
Caffrey: How was Argentina?
Sara: It was...Hot. But very interesting.
Caffrey: What did you find?
Sara: I figured out where those crates we found were being smuggled out of. It's an estate in Southern Argentina.
Caffrey: Love what they've done with the place.
Sara: Yeah, someone burned it down. And I'm pretty sure it was Vincent Adler. I think this is where Adler was hiding after he fled the U.S.
Caffrey: Right. This is good.
Sara: Yeah. I also met some locals.
Caffrey: And some llamas.
Sara: Yes, and some llamas. Um, this is Rosa. She worked in Adler's kitchen. Said he was obsessed with finding a German soldier named Gerhard Wagner.
Caffrey: Who is he?
Sara: I don't know, but hopefully the FBI can find out.
Caffrey: All right. I will pass this on to Peter. Thank you.
Sara: It's good to see you.
Caffrey: You too.
Sara: Yeah.
Caffrey: Okay.
Sara: Are you really going this way?
Caffrey: Yeah.
Sara: I hate that.
Caffrey: Awkward goodbyes after you've already said goodbye.
Sara: Yeah.
Caffrey: I'm gonna grab a coffee.

Caffrey: How far away are you?
Burke: I had to borrow Diana's car. I would have been there in 10, but there's an accident on 5th. So now... 17 minutes plus one minute for parking, and I'll still be there four minutes early. Okay, hold on.
Caffrey: Yeah, that might not be soon enough. Stanzler's on his way, too.
Burke: All right. Do whatever you need to do to keep her calm. But don't let her go.
Caffrey: You really miss your air conditioner, don't you?
Burke: He made my dog pant. Now this is personal.

Brooke: I trust you. I just... I'm sorry. I can't do this.
Caffrey: Brooke Argyle?
Brooke: Yes.
Caffrey: Hi. I'm agent Peter Burke. How are you?
Brooke: Hi.
Caffrey: Hey, hon.
Elizabeth: Hey, honey. Thanks for coming.
Caffrey: Of course. El told me you have information that links Andrew Stanzler to the blackouts.
Brooke: Um, he's outside.
Caffrey: What your boss is doing is wrong, and it's hurting a lot of people. Will you help us?
Elizabeth: Listen, you can trust my husband.
Brooke: Okay.
Caffrey: Thank you. We'll take care of you, okay? El will be in touch.
Brooke: Yeah.
Elizabeth: Wow. Did we really just do that?
Caffrey: Did you see any other option?
Elizabeth: No.
Caffrey: So, which one of us is gonna tell Peter? I vote you.
Elizabeth: Thanks.
Caffrey: You're welcome.

Burke: You impersonated an agent.
Caffrey: You told me to do whatever I needed to do.
Burke: I didn't say commit a federal crime.
Caffrey: I convinced her to come in.
Burke: Yeah. And now is the time to correct the situation by having her meet the real Peter Burke.
Caffrey: She will blow out those doors so fast you won't see her shadow. You know why? 'Cause the lights will be out from the power outage she couldn't help us stop.
Burke: You do not get to be me anymore.
Caffrey: That doesn't go there.
Burke: What are you doing? Get up!
Caffrey: Peter, she's skittish. If I try to explain to her that I impersonated you, she'll never trust you, me, Elizabeth, or the FBI.
Burke: No. Don't touch that. Hello? Oh, hey, El. Are you downstairs with Brooke? Great. Listen, I talked to Neal, and we're just gonna be honest with her. Yes. That's all that... Honey, you... Right. Uh-huh. I understand. Okay. See you in a bit.
Caffrey: Elizabeth talked you into it.
Burke: Listen up, everybody, for the next hour and only the next hour, you will call Mr. Caffrey special agent Peter Burke. No questions. No laughing. Just do it. And never speak of this again.

Brooke: I thought we were just gonna be speaking with your husband.
Elizabeth: Oh, we were, but, actually, this is, um... Neal Caffrey.
Brooke: Are you an agent, too?
Burke: No. No. I wish I was. I'm just a consultant.
Brooke: So, how does that work?
Burke: Actually, I'm a criminal.
Brooke: A criminal?
Burke: I've made a lot of really bad life choices, which landed me in prison. But now I assist the FBI.
Brooke: Oh. Okay. Good.
Burke: As a matter of fact, had it not been for Agent Burke here, I'd still be in prison... rotting.
Caffrey: You're giving me way more credit than I deserve.
Burke: No, no. Don't be modest, Peter. You caught me... twice. And you can send me back any time you want.

Brooke: Um, is there any way you and I could speak... just the two of us?
Caffrey: I know Neal seems intimidating, but he's very useful in cases like yours. In fact, I think he's the single most valuable asset we have here at the Bureau.
Brooke: Please.
Caffrey: On second thought... Neal... Cream. No sugar.
Burke: We have agents for that.
Caffrey: I have something better. I have you.

Jones: Don't you hate it when Peter makes you get coffee?
Burke: You're getting me mocha chai latte's for the rest of the month.
Diana: Hey, boss. Why is Neal in your office?
Burke: Neal is posing as Peter so a witness will tell us about an energy-collusion scam.
Diana: Awesome! I'm going in.
Burke: No.
Diana: Come on. Let me bring him a file.
Burke: What do you have?
Diana: Unh-unh. This is for Peter.
Burke: Diana...
Diana: It's the info Sara requested on Gerhard Wagner.
Burke: There's nothing in here. Why is Gerhard Wagner's file empty?
Diana: The Department of Defense classified his information when he immigrated to the U.S. after World War II.
Burke: Yeah, but that was more than 50 years ago. I'll make some calls, see if I can get his file declassified.

Caffrey: You wouldn't believe the amount of paperwork required to send someone undercover.
Mozzie: Isn't that the suit's job?
Caffrey: Nah, he made me do it since I told a whistle-blower I was Peter Burke.
Mozzie: Why would you do that?
Caffrey: We were gonna lose her. I had to. Now I'm stuck with the IS-9 form, A.K.A. the whistle-blower declaration of facts.
Mozzie: Okay, remember when your mother said, "Don't cross your eyes 'cause they're gonna stay that way"?
Caffrey: Yeah.
Mozzie: The same thing holds for impersonating a suit. Get out or I'm gonna find you wearing wing tips.
Caffrey: What do you think?
Mozzie: Oh. I'm too late. The metamorphosis is complete, cockroach.
Caffrey: Thanks, Kafka.

Caffrey: Peter. Sara. What are you doing here?
Burke: Do I want to know?
Mozzie: Not yet.
Burke: All right. "Tales of the FBI's classified files."
Sara: Peter figured out why Adler's so interested in Wagner.
Mozzie: Excellent. Top-secret movies. I'll make popcorn.
Caffrey: Butter, please.
Mozzie: When do we get to the good part?

Mozzie: Listen, uh... Next time you're poking around classified files, see if you can find anything on the death of the electric car.
Burke: Sure. And I can throw in some stuff about crop circles.
Mozzie: Yes. Oh. You're joking.
Burke: Mozzie, the U.S. Government is not conducting mind-probe experiments.
Mozzie: That's what they've made you believe.

Sara: Are we doing this again?
Caffrey: Guess so.
Sara: You headed home? No, I'm gonna go grab a bite. How about you?
Caffrey: Oh, just to the gym.
Sara: Really? I just... I took you for more of a "sit-up/push-up in the morning" kind of guy.
Caffrey: I swim.
Sara: Yeah? How's that work with your ankle bracelet?
Caffrey: It's waterproof. Are you trained in counter-surveillance?
Sara: You talking about the guy at our 6:00?
Caffrey: So the answer's yes.
Sara: Yes. And he knows we made him.
Caffrey: How long do you want to stay here?
Sara: We'll see what his next move is.
Caffrey: Much better.
Sara: That's not fair. It's my game.
Caffrey: Ah, we take turns. He's making his next move. You okay?
Sara: Yeah. Yeah, I've been followed before in my line of work.
Caffrey: Whoever he is... He knows you're working for us.

Elizabeth: If you're not planning on robbing the museum, why would you need to know all this?
Burke: It's my 'in' to impress Stanzler.
Elizabeth: You know, it's sexy watching you plan a heist.
Burke: Yeah? Think I should go rogue? All right. Say goodbye to Peter Burke. Hi. I'm Caffrey. Neal Caffrey. What?
Elizabeth: Nothing.
Burke: You don't like my Neal?
Elizabeth: Well, he sort of has a way of, I don't know, pulling you in when he talks... A kind of quiet, sexy whisper.
Burke: Oh, sexy, huh?
Elizabeth: And he doesn't put his hands on his hips.
Burke: Right.
Elizabeth: He gets people to do what he wants by charming them. He doesn't rely on a badge.
Burke: Really? Well, you are so smart. You have all the answers, and I couldn't do this without you.
Elizabeth: Much better. Oh, honey?
Burke: Hmm?
Elizabeth: You're gonna have to take off your wedding ring.
Burke: I am. Hmm. Feel naked without it.
Elizabeth: Hmm. Maybe you could wear a hat.

Mozzie: Ah. My pupil has arrived. Take the pebble from my palm.
Burke: Seriously? Kung Fu?
Mozzie: I'm preparing you for your mission.
Burke: Okay.
Mozzie: Give me $20. Look, do you want my help or not? Lesson one... we take. We don't give. Now, moving on...
Burke: Give me my twenty back, or I'm gonna arrest you.
Mozzie: Oh, you're gonna be a very difficult student.

Caffrey: So tell me, Repo...Why you helping out? What's your angle in all this?
Sara: If Adler spent his life searching for something that means the payoff's got to be bigger than the billion he's already stolen.
Caffrey: That's all?
Sara: I like the mystery. I know what it's like to have a lot of questions.
Caffrey: Really?
Sara: When I was 13, my older sister ran away and we never heard from her again.
Caffrey: I'm sorry.
Sara: I used to go into her room and just look at her things and hope that something held the key. You know, if there was a book about dancers, I'd wonder, "is she a ballerina?" Or there was a pony poster, so I wondered if she was off on a ranch somewhere. And I never found the answers I was looking for. But if we find Adler, maybe you can have some closure with Kate.

Burke: How'd it go at the archives?
Caffrey: Great. But it's gonna take a while to find Wagner.
Burke: Another late night with Sara, huh?
Caffrey: Hey, keep your eye on the prize, okay? This is serious. Stanzler doesn't mess around. Now, remember, backup is 10 seconds away...
Burke: You don't give me the "be careful" speech. I invented the "be careful" speech.
Caffrey: Yeah, but since I'm you, I should give...
Burke: You're Neal in the van, and I'm Neal outside the van.
Caffrey: Okay. Then go out there and make me look good.

Mozzie: Well, whoever this Gerhard Wagner is, he has earned my admiration.
Sara: How's that?
Mozzie: He worked the system to his advantage. I mean, one day he was here, and the next... poof... He's vanished into the vast bureaucracy... Like a German Dave Chappelle.
Sara: Did Neal send you to come sit with me?
Mozzie: Uh...No one sends me. I go places.
Sara: Of course. My mistake.
Mozzie: He's not worried about you, if that's what you're implying. I'm here for obvious reasons.
Sara: Well, of course. I mean, it's impossible to deny this Tracy/Hepburn thing between us. I do want you, Mozzie.
Mozzie: Please. Control yourself. I'm here to double the workforce. I want to get Adler, too. Oh. I take that as a sign.
Sara: Of what?
Mozzie: I'll let you know.

Burke: I didn't know I authorized a badge.
Caffrey: Well, I needed one. I was an FBI agent.
Burke: Was.
Caffrey: Was.
Burke: You enjoyed being me.
Caffrey: I admit there's a certain... Allure to your profession. How about you?
Burke: Being Neal Caffrey has its charms.
Caffrey: Ignoring convention? Embracing your id?
Burke: Yeah. And I do look good in black.
Caffrey: You do.
Burke: I have a feeling I had to work a lot harder fitting into your world than you did fitting into mine.
Caffrey: I don't know about that.
