White Collar "The Portrait" Nitpicks

Season 1, Episode 5 Air Date: November 20, 2009

When you watch a program over and over, you start to notice minor continuity issues, plot oversights and other goofs. This page is not intended to be a criticism aimed toward the show or anyone who works on White Collar. They produce a great show and should be proud of their work. That's why I titled it "Nitpicks" because to nitpick means "to be overly critical or criticize minor details." If it bothers you, please don't read them.

No Editing! When Mozzie reads Kate's letter aloud, he skips the lines "Know that you're my friend, my only lover. You consume my thoughts. Every day I miss you more."

Just a Motto: "Trust, but verify" is also believed to be a favorite one of Felix Dzerzhinsky, the builder of the Soviet secret police, but was not a phrase associated with the Soviet Secret Police.

Keep Walking! Agent Jones tells Burke "I've got a question for you" and then leaves the room with him. However, when Caffrey talks to Julianna, Burke and Jones are still in the doorway.

Semantics: It's semantics (or the show was avoiding copyright infringement), but it's actually the Art Loss Register not the Art Loss Registry.

FBI with Benefits? If Neal is not an employee with the FBI, does he get benefits? I'm just curious as to who provides him with health care since he takes a lot of risks for them. And how does the FBI explain how a non-employee has a desk at the FBI?

Fashion Accessories: What about the anklet? He's a rich guy with a tracking device? Maybe it got pulled off earlier... but the show seems to love showing it to us.

Dumb Thief! I'm not an art thief, but wouldn't it be smarter to sell a stolen painting to a private individual rather than an art gallery? If so, why did Dorsett try to sell it to all the galleries in town? Not to mention selling a stolen painting in the same city it was stolen...

Magical Saying: When the expert from the Channing museum is turning over the painting, the message Neal wrote is quite large. But when we see a close up image of it, it is much smaller.
